What do I need to order a portrait?

Only a photo of your pet you want on the portrait!

How to shoot an animal?

ill titlePhoto tips

As I mentioned earlier, the photos are a foundation of a good portrait. I cannot draw what I cannot see. I could, but then it wouldn't be your pet! In most ocasions the photos are the only connection between me and your pet, and it is the only way for me to see it. Keep that in mind, and take a goooood look at this section cause this step toward holding your pet portrait in your hands is the most important!

Quality and size

A photograph that will be taken as a reference for a portrait has to be bigger than 1000 x1000 pixels. Why? Because I often have to draw big portraits, (for example 40''x28'') it is very hard to do something very big from something very small. I can't see details from a small photo... so I can't draw them.

Focus

Focus actually means sharpness. If your pet is out of focus it will be blurry so the details are lost. Without datailed photo, there is no detailed portrait. Keep in mind: when you're taking photos for a reference pic they must be sharp! The animal on it must be clearly seen.

Position

The best way (position) is to shoot your pet leveled with his eyes. Do not shoot photos from below or above it.

Lighting

The best lighting is the day lighting. When ever you can, go outside and take pictures of your pet ih his emviroment. If you can't go outside go close to a window to use some day lighting. Avoid using flash, if it's a matter of fact, use flash never! It creates "red eyes" and makes your pets fur look flat and removes its natural color.
